A new lifestyle and real estate magazine targeting new and established immigrants from China has launched in Calgary.
Calgary Living will be published five times a year written in both traditional Chinese and English. Its first edition, the Chinese New Year edition, was 48 pages strong and was distributed the week of February 12th.
Editorial content focuses on what it means to live, work and play in Calgary as a member of the local Chinese community. Feature articles will highlight the people, places, things and events that Chinese Calgarians are interested in including topics such as food, entertainment, shopping and business. Choosing a place to live in Calgary, as well as the various aspects of setting up house and getting settled in a new community are also covered.
“We’re targeting new and established immigrants in their own language,” says Associate Publisher and Editor Jim Zang. “Nobody’s done that before in Calgary and we felt there was a need for a lifestyle magazine in that market. This is a magazine whose time has come.”
More than 11,000 copies of the magazine are being distributed via 400+ free Media Classified box locations including special distribution to neighbourhoods with a higher percentage of Chinese speaking population.
